1	Hail, glorious apostle, Saint Basil the Great, The student's pure model, companion of youth; We greet thee and pray that from heaven's high state, We may share in thy holiness, virtue and truth.
2	Destroyer of error, strong champion of right, Saint Basil, we hail thee and call on thy name; Through Pontus and Asia shone out the blest light; Caesarea's great pontiff, all earth knew thy fame.
3	Thou wert zealous and pow'rful of work and of word; The Godhead of Christ thou didst teach and maintain; To His love by thy preaching the multitudes stirred, Proclaimed Christ is King, in our hearts let Him reign.
